A Day in the Country

I spent a day in the country, this was the closest house I could see DSC_3540

Spent the day surrounded by excitable dogs, curious cats and hard working horses.  Never did see the cat called Houdini though :)

Having lived in a major town the best part of my life I’d also never seen so many house martins and jackdaws before and I’ve just discovered how soft the skin on a horses nose is, I normally don’t get too close to animals bigger than me.

May Bank Holiday

Started in London on Friday for work, so I took a detour to St James’ Park and around Horse Guards Parade.  Finally got the image of Big Ben within the London Eye from Waterloo Bridge :)

Then on Saturday I spent the day in Oxford taking my Ma to see the Jersey Boys.  Good production, not what I expected.  We’ve gone plenty of times to see what I wanted and my Ma really wanted to see this.  I enjoyed it.

Weekend Trip

First time I’ve been to a play where a ‘prop’ has got the largest applause. Great play, excellent use of one set.

The old train station entrance and the theatre staff in costume set the scene before the play even started.

Very cool train in a theatre and some very good but simple effects

Family guinea pig Gizmo was running around in his indoor pen when I sat near him he tried to lick my leg, hands, toes, anything he could find.  He gave up and decided to lick my shorts!

I’ve had to visit a few sites in the south of England for work so decided to take my camera along and take a few photos, walking about the towns.

A couple of pictures of Romsey Abbey, Southampton walls and the parade at Cowes

It

I’ve finally finished Stephen King’s It, again, it’s one of my favourite books but only the second time I’ve got all the way through.  Some parts of that book I’ve read 4 times!

First attempt I was about 16, got halfway through and gave up, finally read it all the way thorough at about 21.

5 years ago I thought it was time to re-read it, one piece of advise don’t take it as hospital reading.  I associated that book with hospitals for several years and could now only pick it up again.  Next time I’m visiting someone in hospital I’m taking Harry Potter, I’ve read them so many times it will never be associated with hospitals.  I was doing really well reading every night at the start of the year but was distracted late January and have done much less reading since then.

Still a great book and I loved the 90’s mini-series, but would love to see it done full justice and stay more true to the book.

Now for something a bit lighter, I think
